Vocational Subject Offers
At Carnforth High School, we recognise the need to offer vocational courses as an alternative to the purely academic pathway
Business Studies
Business Studies has been and remains an extremely popular vocational area that many young people are enthused by and aspire too. The Business qualification we offer at Carnforth High School aims to use the Business sector as a vehicle to develop learners more broadly, so they are prepared and equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in any context.
Hairdressing
Hairdressing and beauty therapy has been and remains an extremely popular vocational area that many young people are enthused by and aspire too. The aim of the qualifications we offer at Carnforth High School is to use the hair and beauty sector as a vehicle to develop learners more broadly, so they are prepared and equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in any context.
Health and Social Care
About three million people in the UK work in the health and social care
sector – the equivalent to one in every 10 people. Demand for both health and social care is likely to continue to rise due to the ageing population, and so will play a very important role in the UK. At present in the Lancaster and Morecambe area, the largest employment sector is Health & Social
Care. (Lancashire Enterprise Partnership – Labour Market Intelligence Report 2019)
To ensure our pupils have access to progression routes in this sector, we offer L1/2 BTEC qualifications in Health and Social Care. Through these courses, we aim to give students an insight into some aspects of the health and social care services, ranging from how the human grows and
develops throughout their lifespan to the different H&SC providers and the care values that underpin them.
