Preparing for exams – KS4
At key stage 4 exams are taken at the end of the two years. We hold a curriculum evening for Y10 and 11 parents in November in order to inform parents of the programme of study for their child and how best they can support them. A guide to aid revision is also published to all students and a revision timetable issued to support pupils. Many department run coursework catch-up session and revision classes throughout the year. Mock exams are held formally in December for all subjects. Pupils are taught revision skills in order to maximise their independent study time.
Preparing for exams – KS3
All departments complete ‘end of topic’ tests throughout the year to inform the parent and child of progress in each programme of study. In addition to this, at the end of every year all pupils sit formal end of year exams in the hall based on topics studied all year. Not only does this prepare them for KS4 but also allows progress to be monitored very carefully.
